What are Internal & External Tools?

Knoon Agents use tools to perform actions and complete tasks. Tools are grouped into Internal Tools and External Tools based on who can use them and where they are allowed to run.

Internal Tools

Internal Tools are used inside the organization only. They are not exposed to customers or external users. These tools can only be used by Worker Agents and usually work with internal systems, data, or workflows. Because these tools handle private or sensitive data, they are restricted to internal use.

External Tools

External Tools can be used in customer-facing or organization-wide scenarios. These tools can be used by both Chat Agents and Worker Agents. They often connect to third-party apps, public services, or systems that interact with customers.
